Divi Builder Review (2022)

Divi Builder Review

Divi is a well-known name in the WordPress community. It's a popular theme and website builder by Elegant Themes.

Back in the day, the only way you could use Divi is if you installed the theme. Today, you can use Divi on any theme!

How does it work?

You can download the Divi plugin and upload it to your WordPress website via the Plugins page in your dashboard.

When you've got all that set up, you can start building pages using Divi!

How to Use Divi Builder

When you want to add content to your page, you start with a new section. (Red arrow below)

The pink arrow in the image above points to a button that pops open your tool bar at the bottom of the screen.

This is where you'll have the ability to save your draft, publish your posts, add layouts/templates, preview your page, and more.

Adding modules (elements) like text, image, etc., is done on a popup toolbox. It's essentially a floating sidebar you can drag to anywhere on your screen. Example below:

Quick note: You can stick or attach this sidebar to the side of your screen for more comfort.

All your content module is have a ton of customizable options. They all come with many settings you can configure any way you want.

Who is Divi Builder For?

Divi is a mean, lean, page building machine. If you fall into the WordPress website builder category, Divi Builder is certainly designed for you.

Is it user/beginner-friendly?

Like with anything you're new to, it will take a minute or two to get yourself up to speed on how to use Divi to create beautiful webpages.

But when you do, your competitors better watch out.

What You'll Get With Divi Builder: Top Features

Divi Builder is a powerful piece of page building software. It offers hundreds of layouts, dozens of content modules that will make your website stand out, and other features to help you grow your website business.

Let's take a closer look:

Page Layouts

When a tool like Divi provides ready-to-go page templates, it makes it 100x easier to build attractive web pages.

How? Most of the work is already done for us. This is especially true if there are sets of templates that have the same concept behind them but are for different types of pages across your website.

Let me show you a real life example:

Divi has what they call layout packs. They typically include around seven or eight page templates that are similar to one another but are tweaked to fit a certain type of page.

Here's Divi's Handyman pack:

Divi Layouts 01

As you can see, this pack includes page layouts for an about page, contact page, home page, services page, and more.

There are 220 layout packs with a total of 1620 templatesfor you to choose from.

Content Modules

Content modules are the specific elements that make up your page. Text, images, buttons, headlines, boxes, dividers, etc. There are many.

Divi comes with a few dozen of them.

There is so much you can do with these elements. You can create some really unique pages.

You can even get access to WooCommerce modules if you have your own products to sell. That means you can create your own online store!

Theme Builder

One of Divi Builder's amazing capabilities is that it allows you to create customized sections of your WordPress layout.

You can build THREE different areas:

  • Header
  • Body
  • Footer

All three parts have its own settings and templates to choose from.

The page templates, which we'll get into very soon, come with a large selection. Divi's library of layouts contains thousands.

Something Divi does great is it gives you so much control over your content. For example, for all your posts you are given settings where you can configure WordPress meta settings like the title and excerpt. You can also change design settings like the colour palette and advanced settings like adding custom CSS.

Something nice found within these settings is the split test.

Split testing is an effective way to find out what works best. Very handy when you know how to use it.

Integrations

Building a mailing list is one of the most important things for a blogger to do. It's a great way to send traffic to your blog posts, build community, and sell products.

Divi makes it easy to integrate it with your favourite email marketing tools such as MailerLite and Aweber.

Help and Support

Elegant Themes, the company behind Divi, does a great job at providing support and training for their members.

Firstly, there is a Facebook group you could interact with other Divi users and members of the support team. Then there's the forum where you could interact with even more people.

There's also something called Meetup.com where you can find meetups in your area or even organize your own.

For training, Elegant Themes has tutorials and documentation for all their products, including the Divi Builder plugin.

If that's not enough, you can submit support tickets at any time!

  • Comparing to other page builders, we found Divi to be among the hardest to learn.
  • The number of options Divi provides in a single sidebar can get overwhelming.
  • Missing elements/modules we like to all the time, for instance, star ratings, tables,  icon bullet lists, and icons in general.

How Much Does Divi Builder Cost?

The people behind Divi offer all their WordPress products under a single membership.

You can opt in at $89 every year OR go for the lifetime discount and pay for the one-time fee of $249.
