What is Thrive Architect?

Thrive Architect (TA) is a premium WordPress plugin that replaces the default WYSIWYG editor with a frontend drag-and-drop builder that is an actual WYSIWYG editor.

WordPress
Thrive Architect

It is a part of the plugin suite offered by Thrive Themes, which also includes Thrive Leads (a plugin we've reviewed in the past).

Is it better than the default WordPress content editor? By far. If you were to try it out right now, content creation would never be the same.

Seriously. Thrive Architect can take a boring plain piece of content and turn it into something that's visually appealing.

You see?

Thrive Architect is like content creation on steroids.

How Does it Work? A Quick Thrive Architect Tutorial

Thrive Architect provides a clean user interface that makes it easy for you to learn how to use the visual builder effectively and efficiently.

Here's how it works:

Let's start with PAGES. This could be something like a signup page, sales page or even an about page.

When you're starting a new page, Thrive Architect will ask you what type of page you're building.

Thrive Architect Pages 1

How do I choose, you ask?

  • Normal Page - if you're looking to create a page on your theme's default layout.
  • Blank Page with Header and Footer - a blank canvas with your theme header and footer.
  • Completely Blank Page - a completely blank canvas if you want to start from scratch.
  • Pre-built Landing Page - you'll get to choose from hundreds of templates (more on that later).

After you choose which type of page you want to build, the visual page editor will load and this is where the fun begins.

To start adding content to your page, navigate to the + icon on the right-hand sidebar.

image001

Now, pick something from the element toolbar.

image002

You can either click an element to add it to the bottom of the page OR drag and drop it to anywhere you desire.

Peep the GIFs below for quick examples.

The examples above are of POSTS like the one you're on right now.

If you were building a landing page, you'd first have to choose a template from the library.

image003

You're now ready to start adding real content to your post OR page.

Now what?

One of the best features of Thrive Architect is the inline text editing. Meaning you can edit your text right on the page canvas itself and not in a little box on a sidebar (some page builders can't do this).

gif003

Editing the text element can be done in two areas: the little toolbar at the top of the page AND the bigger sidebar to the left.

image004

The smaller toolbar lets you make the basic edits. Such as text alignment, headings, adding bold/italics, and text links.

The main sidebar is where you do everything else. From here, you can change text colour, play with fonts, adjust sizing, edit the margins/padding, and even add animations.

There are a ton of configurations you can do here. Every element has them. You'll see once you're in the visual editor yourself. You'll love it!

What You Get With Thrive Architect

Thrive Architect is jam-packed with great features that are all designed to help you create content your visitors will love. These features will also help you crush your competition.

Let's check them out.

1. Dragging and Dropping

Adding elements into your content is easy when using Thrive Architect. Simply choose an element from the toolbar, drag it to where you want it, drop it, and start editing.

2. Responsiveness

Thrive Architect allows you to see what your content would look like on all 3 main screen sizes.

They have this small toolbar at the bottom that allows you to preview your content on tablet and mobile.

Thrive Architect Preview Toolbar

Here's what it looks like in action...

Thrive Architect Tablet Preview
Thrive Architect Mobile Preview

Pretty sweet, huh? It avoids you having to adjust your browser manually. Which isn't necessarily a hassle, but still. TA's preview feature is awesome.

And with Google's focus on mobile-friendly content, this will definitely come in handy.

3. Create/Save Custom Templates

One of the greatest things about TA is the fact that you could save anything you create. It doesn't matter if it's just a button, a content box, or a whole blog post.

To do this, you would simply hover over an element and click on the file icon.

Name it, save it, and you'll be able to add it to any post or page you want.

Thrive Architect Elements

Thrive Architect comes with dozens and dozens of elements. Some of these elements include styled lists (with icons), content boxes, columns, table of contents, and more.

Below, we'll take a look at each one of them.

Let's check them out.

Quick Note: TA's elements are broken down into 3 categories. Foundation, Building Blocks, and Integrations.

Foundation Elements:

These are your basic elements like headings, paragraphs, and images. But you'll also find columns (a very handy element), content boxes, and buttons.

Building Blocks Elements:

These elements will are the ones that help your content stand out from normal WP content.

You'll find neat things like styled lists, table of contents, star ratings, and a whole lot more.

Every element is 100% customizable. You will have access to:

  • unlimited colours (HEX/RGB)
  • unlimited font size, line height, and letter spacing
  • set whatever margins and paddings you want
  • add borders and rounded corners to almost anything
  • add drop shadow to any element you want
  • add animations to certain elements ( such as slide in, fade in, etc)
  • show/hide any element on tablet or mobile
  • decorate background sections and content boxes by adding special dividers
  • and more...

Thrive Architect Landing Pages

Thrive Architect comes with tons of landing page templates. This was (or is) actually its own plugin called Thrive Landing Pages. Now it's merged with TA. And it's awesome.

Landing Page Templates for Just About Everything

Whether you're building a landing page to generate leads, sell products, or anything in between, this will have the perfect template for you.

Literally.

If you want to build a homepage, they've got templates for that. If you want to build lead generation pages, you'll have dozens of templates to choose from. If you want to sell your products, you'll find templates for that.

Heck...If you want to build download pages, thank you pages, confirmation pages, or even a webinar page...you will find templates for each of those.

There are a total of 40 sets of landing pages. Each of them have a template for a homepage, a lead generation page, a confirmation page, a download page, and a sales page. That's 5 different types (although some sets feature more). If you add it all up, that's at least 120 landing page templates.

That's amazing.

On top of that, there's this...

Create and Save Your Own Landing Page Templates

So, if at some point you create a landing page you absolutely love, you can save that as its own template.

Remember how I showed you that you can save any piece of content as templates? It's just like that.

Thrive Architect Pros and Cons

Pros

  • A learning curve that's easy to get around.
  • Jampacked with features and elements.
  • Access to hundreds of beautiful landing page templates.
  • Turn boring content into EPIC content.
  • Not the cheapest. But still very affordable.
  • Ability to edit any aspect of your page.

Cons

  • The visual builder can sometimes be slow/laggy.
  • Does not autosave your content. But gives you a reminder every 10 mins or so.
  • No shopping cart feature. Must find a third party tool to help you with this if you're looking to sell products.

Thrive Architect Pricing

Thrive Architect comes with 3 pricing points. Everything is included in all 3 and they're all one-time fees.

These pricing options are license packs. That means none of Thrive Architect's features will be kept from you. You'll get everything you've seen in our review.

Now...Let's have a look at the price tags:

  • 1-Site License Pack - $67
  • 5-Site License Pack - $97
  • 15-Site License Pack - $147

Quick Note: Thrive Themes will ask you if you're interested in getting more with their membership. It's $228 annually OR $90 quarterly. And you'll get 9 other plugins, 10 themes, and all future products/updates. (Highly recommended!)

Thrive Architect Review | The Verdict

I'll be honest. I love this tool. It's my absolute favourite WordPress plugin. I create all my content with it. Including this Thrive Architect review.

So yeah. We absolutely recommend here at Blogging Aid. So much so we give it a 5 out of 5 star rating.

If you take a look at other Thrive Architect reviews, you'll see that I'm not the only one who thinks so...
